Competition Bureau investigating Videotron over employee online reviews (updated)

By Ahmad Hathout OTTAWA – The Competition Bureau is investigating whether Videotron employees artificially inflated online reviews of the Helix IPTV platform – and potentially other company products – in public forums, according to new court files asking the court to compel the Montreal-based company to hand over documents to advance the inquiry. Videotron will expand to northwestern Quebec as TPIA provider on Bell-owned cable network

Cablevision’s TPIA rates approved by the CRTC GATINEAU – A year ago today, Quebecor Media’s Videotron demanded third party internet access to Bell’s networks in the region of Abitibi, in Québec, which operates under the brand Cablevision du Nord. After a couple of rounds of regulatory back-and-forth CRTC ordered Bell to give access to Videotron and file tariffs. Quebecor’s outdoor signage available on programmatic ad platform

MONTREAL — Quebecor Media announced today its inventory of digital street signage is now available on Quebec-based Hivestack’s programmatic ad buying platform. With the agreement, programmatic ad buys are available on Quebecor’s network of more than 120 digital out-of-home screens in Montreal, Laval, Sherbrooke, Lévis and South Shore Montreal, where eight more screens will be added on August 25, says the news release. Quebecor hires Pascal Tanguay away from Bell Media

MONTREAL — Quebecor announced Friday the appointment of Pascal Tanguay (pictured) as its new general manager of direct client solutions, effective July 13. Patrick Jutras, senior vice-chairman and chief advertising revenue officer at Quebecor and Groupe TVA, made the announcement. MONTREAL — Bell Media announced Monday it has hired Lucie Quenneville (pictured) as the new general manager of programming and acquisition strategies for Bell Media in Quebec, effective July 20. Reporting to Suzane Landry, Bell Media’s vice-president of French-language content development and programming, Quenneville will be responsible for programming and acquisition strategies for the V specialty channel and for Crave’s French-language programming. Quebecor won’t appeal Bell’s V Network buy

By Ahmad Hathout MONTREAL – Quebecor Media will not challenge the CRTC’s decision to approve Bell’s purchase of the V Network in the Federal Court of Appeal, according to a letter to the court. The letter, sent June 23, said despite finding an error in the Commission’s approval of the purchase, it wishes to discontinue the proceeding. Quebecor first filed a notice in the court in early May reserving its right to challenge the CRTC’s decision approving the purchase in April.
