TVA Sports moves newscasts online, cuts 17 jobs

MONTREAL — Quebecor Media’s TVA Sports is “transforming” its newscasts to a digital-only offering, a move that has resulted in the elimination of 17 jobs.
“Over the past few years, we have seen sports fans’ consumption habits changing, and the pace of this change has accelerated during the pandemic,” a TVA statement read, quoting executive producer Louis-Philippe Neveu. “That’s why, from now on, we will deliver sports news where the fans are, while adding more live sports events to our programming,” the statement continued.

Also files lawsuit seeking $12 million in damages
MONTREAL — Quebecor-owned Videotron is taking its dispute with Bell over access to support structures to the Competition Bureau of Canada, asking for an investigation into Bell’s practices which Videotron says are anticompetitive by allegedly slowing down or, in some cases, blocking access to Bell’s telephone poles.

MONTREAL — Propulsion Québec, the electric and smart transportation (EST) cluster, announced today a new three-year partnership with Quebecor that will see the communications company expand its involvement in developing the EST transportation ecosystem. In addition, Propulsion Québec will support the electrification of Quebecor’s Videotron vehicle fleet.
