TORONTO – Rogers Communications owes $30 million to approximately 300,000 of its customers who were overcharged during a recent discount program.
The mistake, which Rogers said arose as a result of administrative error and system related issues, varies for each customer depending on their tenure in the ‘Better Choice Bundles’ discount program and the number of services they have, the company said. Rogers introduced the program to offer customers a discount when they purchase two or more eligible communications services with a two-year contract term and a consolidated monthly invoice.
Approximately 200,000 customers, who received greater discounts than they were eligible…

OTTAWA – CTV’s ‘Save Local TV’ spots relating to the contentious fee-for-carriage issue did not violate any code provisions, the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council (CBSC) ruled Wednesday.
As Cartt.ca readers will no doubt recall, in the lead-up to the CRTC hearing on value-for-signal (or fee-for-carriage, as the Panels refer to it), Canadian conventional broadcasters launched a public awareness campaign entitled ‘Save Local TV’, while the BDUs (cable and satellite television companies), launched a corresponding campaign entitled ‘Stop the TV Tax’.
A consortium of BDUs complained to the CRTC that CTV-owned stations were using their programming to promote their view. The…

"We are very pleased that the judge has refused to overturn this injunction," said Bell Aliant president and CEO, Karen Sheriff, in a statement. "It reinforces our strong belief that our competitors should…
