MONTREAL – In the context of the tabling of Bill C-10, the amendments seeking to modernize the Broadcasting Act, Quebecor’s TVA Group commissioned a poll to survey Quebecers’ perceptions and opinions about the role and complementarity of public and private television networks in Quebec.
1,019 English- or French-speaking respondents across Québec were surveyed between November 6 and November 12. The survey found:
78% of Quebecers believe it is in the public interest for public and private networks to complement rather than compete in the content that they offer.

VANCOUVER — Thunderbird Entertainment Group reported late Monday strong increases in revenue and adjusted EBITDA for the first quarter of its 2021 fiscal year compared to last year, thanks primarily to growth in its kids and family division’s production services.
For the three months ended September 30, 2020, Thunderbird had $19.8 million in revenue, an increase of 20% over the same quarter of fiscal 2020. The company’s adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) was $4.8 million in Q1 2021, a 32% year-over-year increase.

TORONTO — Friends of Canadian Broadcasting says it garnered almost 10,000 signatures on a petition calling for the CBC to end its branded-content Tandem initiative, which was presented to the CBC’s board of directors ahead of their scheduled meeting today.

TORONTO — In an unprecedented move, a coalition of former CBC management executives, journalists, producers and other employees have sent a letter to the public broadcaster’s board of directors asking them to end CBC’s Tandem, a “dedicated service for branded content” which the letter writers say produces advertising indistinguishable from journalism.
