CBC launches AccessCBC initiative for disabled creators

TORONTO — CBC announced today the launch of AccessCBC, a new national pilot program for Deaf and disabled creators that will provide “training, mentorship and, on certain selected projects, financing support, to create scripted and documentary content,” says a CBC press release. CBC is partnering on the initiative with the ReelAbilities Film Festival Toronto (RAFFTO), presented by the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre (JCC), which provides creative opportunities and training for people with a disability who work in film, television and video content production. Three quarters of anglophones have TVs connected to Internet, MTM says

OTTAWA – Media Technology Monitor (MTM), a division of CBC/Radio-Canada, today released a report on connected TV, which says almost three quarters of anglophones have TVs that are connected to the Internet. “As Subscription Video on Demand services (SVODs) have become more prevalent, so have Internet-connected TVs,” says an MTM press release. “Younger anglophones and households with children are the most likely to be connecting their TV sets,” the release says. BAF approves $371,000 for four new projects

OTTAWA – The Broadcasting Accessibility Fund (BAF) announced today it is awarding $371,000 to four board-approved projects that will advance the accessibility of Canadian broadcasting content. The approved “projects represent the completion of the Fund’s seventh round of grants, with a total commitment of approximately $4M to date, to address gaps in broadcasting accessibility,” a press release explains. CBC announces highlights of upcoming Winter Olympics coverage

THE COUNTDOWN TO the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games has begun. CBC/Radio-Canada, today released highlights of its upcoming Olympics coverage. The Games, which will run from Feb. 4 to Feb. 20, 2022, will feature seven sports, 109 medial events and will take place across 13 competition venues, a CBC press release says.
