OTTAWA – The International Institute of Communications (IIC) Canadian Chapter has released a preliminary program for its annual conference, being held as a hybrid event this year with the in-person part taking place at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa on May 16 and 17.
According to an email announcing registration for the event is open, the conference will feature discussions on a variety of topics including:
Competition law and platform regulation
Bill C-11 (the Online Streaming Act)

CANADA AND AUSTRALIA’S national public broadcasters CBC and ABC announced yesterday they have teamed up to create the Kindred ABC/CBC Animation Collaboration, a joint initiative to fund new children’s animated projects.
This initiative builds on the existing collaborative relationship between the two public broadcasters, which are now in search of “world-class, unique, creatively ambitious animation ideas to develop, with the potential for a future co-commission,” a press release explains.

CREATORS CAN NOW apply to take part in the first Northern Canada Producer Accelerator (NCPA), a joint program between the Yukon and Northwest Territories, which was announced today by Screen Production Yukon Association, Northwest Territories Professional Media Association, Yukon Media Development, and the Northwest Territories Film Commission.

TORONTO — CBC and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) announced today a new six-part TV series Stuff the British Stole, based on the ABC podcast of the same name from award-winning journalist Marc Fennell that launched on CBC Podcasts in fall 2021.
An Australia-Canada co-production, Stuff the British Stole is being co-produced by Wooden Horse, WildBear Entertainment and Cream Productions (Canada) for the ABC and the CBC.
With principal production funding from Screen Australia, the TV series is being financed with support from the Canada Media Fund, Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit, Ontario Creates and Content Mint.

TORONTO — CBC announced today it has launched a reboot of its teen-focused financial literacy brand Street Cents on TikTok.
The original Street Cents was an award-winning CBC TV series in the 1990s/early 2000s.

MONTREAL – APTN and CBC/Radio-Canada today announced they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU), which formalizes a collaborative partnership between the two organizations that covers entertainment and news programming.
