OTTAWA – CBC’s Media Technology Monitor (MTM) today released its Spring 2022 Sneak Peek and English and French-language Adoption reports, which explore the topics of cord cutting, account sharing amongst subscription video on demand (SVOD) audiences and more.
“These reports provide an overview of media activities and technologies, to help you better understand Canadians’ media habits and provide a taste of the new reports and infographics we have coming this season,” a press release says.

CBC NEWS ANNOUNCED today a new strategic approach aimed at delivering an enhanced news offering, which includes launching a 24/7 FAST (free, ad-supported streaming TV) channel and a shakeup amongst the co-hosts of The National.
The new FAST channel is to launch in the fall and will be available for streaming, digital and connected TV platforms. It will offer “the best of CBC local, national and current affairs journalism,” a press release explains. MONTREAL — The first paragraph of the CRTC’s decision to renew CBC/Radio-Canada’s TV and radio licenses was no surprise. The Commission is never going to deny a license to the national public broadcaster.

CALGARY — CBC Calgary announced today David Gray (above), long-time host of the radio morning show Calgary Eyeopener, is retiring from the CBC after 33 years with the public broadcaster.
Tomorrow (June 30) will be his final day on air.
Gray started his career with CBC TV’s The National in Toronto, before taking on a reporter job in 1990 in his hometown, Calgary. Two years later, he moved to Edmonton to become a legislature bureau chief. He later moved back to Toronto to work as a national reporter for the CBC business show Venture.

OTTAWA — On July 1, the IEEE, the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC) and the Canadian National Committee of the International Union of Radio Science (CNC-URSI) will partner with Bell Canada, Telus and SaskTel to recognize the history and legacy of the Trans-Canada Microwave System, which officially opened on July 1, 1958.

TORONTO — CBC and Wolf + Rabbit Entertainment announced today principal photography has begun on the seventh season of original hit comedy series Workin’ Moms.
This will be the show’s final season, according to series creator and executive producer Catherine Reitman (Black-ish, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), who also stars in the lead role of Kate Foster.
