TORONTO — CBC announced today Nil Köksal (above) will be the new host of CBC Radio’s national current affairs show As It Happens.
Köksal will join co-host Chris Howden on the show starting Monday, Sept. 5. This follows the departure earlier this year of long-time As It Happens host Carol Off.
A Canadian Screen Award-winning journalist, Köksal is currently the host of CBC’s morning national radio show CBC News: World Report. Her last day hosting the show will be Wednesday, July 20.

OTTAWA – After a group of 60 people, including Radio-Canada personalities, sent an open letter to the CBC/Radio-Canada asking it to refuse to comply to the sanctions imposed by the CRTC on the use of the “N-word” on-air, more people and groups came out against the decision.

OTTAWA – Last week, between St-Jean-Baptiste and Canada Day, the CRTC issued a decision blaming the CBC/Radio-Canada for saying on the air the N-word, which is part of the title of an iconic book in Québec, written by Pierre Vallières, a prominent member of the FLQ, a separatist/terrorist group of the sixties.

TORONTO — Mediapro Canada announced today an agreement with CBC that will see CBC Sports provide broadcast and streaming coverage of Canada Soccer’s women’s national team’s (above) three group stage games in the 2022 Concacaf W Championship.
Mediapro Canada is the rights holder in Canada for all Concacaf national team tournaments through to 2023.

OTTAWA – CBC’s Media Technology Monitor (MTM) today released its Spring 2022 Sneak Peek and English and French-language Adoption reports, which explore the topics of cord cutting, account sharing amongst subscription video on demand (SVOD) audiences and more.

CBC NEWS ANNOUNCED today a new strategic approach aimed at delivering an enhanced news offering, which includes launching a 24/7 FAST (free, ad-supported streaming TV) channel and a shakeup amongst the co-hosts of The National.
The new FAST channel is to launch in the fall and will be available for streaming, digital and connected TV platforms. CALGARY — CBC Calgary announced today David Gray (above), long-time host of the radio morning show Calgary Eyeopener, is retiring from the CBC after 33 years with the public broadcaster.
Tomorrow (June 30) will be his final day on air.
Gray started his career with CBC TV’s The National in Toronto, before taking on a reporter job in 1990 in his hometown, Calgary. Two years later, he moved to Edmonton to become a legislature bureau chief. He later moved back to Toronto to work as a national reporter for the CBC business show Venture.
