OTTAWA – CBC/Radio-Canada raked in more than $58 million after divesting its financial stake in Sirius XM Canada as the satellite radio company prepares to go private.
The public broadcaster said that it sold 13,056,787 class A subordinate voting shares in Sirius XM Canada Holdings Inc. to 2517835 Ontario Inc., a corporation owned by Slaight Communications Inc., Obelysk Media Inc. and Sirius XM Radio Inc.
CBC/Radio-Canada said that it sold the shares for C$4.50 per share in cash for aggregate gross proceeds of $58,755,541.

TORONTO – CBC has served up a new original comedy series shot entirely in the kitchen of Canadian Screen Award and Comedy Award-winner Pat Thornton, that takes place anywhere but his kitchen.
My Kitchen Can Be Anything is a 15-episode fantasy comedy series from the surreal minds of award-winning comedians Eric Toth (Still Standing, Bill and Sons Towing, The Imponderables) and Thornton (Filth City, Sunnyside, Space Janitors). TORONTO – Just as the City of Toronto gets set to ask wireless companies and their device manufacturers to work together so that smartphones can be FM radios, too, the Toronto-based North American Broadcasters Association (NABA) led a successful effort to gain international support for the activation of FM radio receivers in smartphones.
