Older Canadians slow to embrace digital health technologies: Telus Health

TORONTO – While older Canadians are the most likely to benefit from digital health technology, they are also the least likely to adopt it, says a new study commissioned by Telus Health. According to the survey, Canadians in the baby boomer (52+) and greatest generation (age 71+) categories reported they were the most likely to access a healthcare provider (78%). However, while 58% in this demographic agreed that digital health tools would help them connect with their healthcare provider, this group ranked the lowest to use them (20%). OTTAWA – On Tuesday morning, the federal government will name former Telesat and Telus executive Ian Scott as chairman of the CRTC, Cartt.ca has learned. Telus to spend remaining deferral account funds on mobile accessibility

OTTAWA – The CRTC has approved some, but not all, of Telus’ ideas on how the telco should use the remaining $1.34 million of its deferral account funds to improve access to mobile wireless telecommunications services for persons with disabilities. Half of Montreal metro’s underground network now online

MONTREAL – Half of Montreal’s metro is now plugged into an LTE mobile network, and the project is proceeding on schedule, according to the Société de transport de Montréal (STM). With 34 out of 68 stations now connected, passengers have complete mobile connectivity between the Côte-Vertu and Mont-Royal stations on the orange line, between Beaudry and Lionel-Groulx on the green line, between Snowdon and Acadie on the blue line, and on the entire yellow line. Telus trials new app to put the brakes on distracted driving

VANCOUVER – Telus is test driving a new pilot project with B.C.-based mobile app company eBrake Technologies to help curtail distracted driving. eBrake is a new, Canadian-made mobile innovation for Android and iOS smartphones that completely blocks a driver from using their device while driving, but grants passengers unrestricted use.  When it detects vehicle-related motion, the software-based solution locks any device it is installed on and blocks incoming notifications.
