Indigenous broadcaster APTN, public broadcaster CBC/Radio-Canada and the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR) announced last week they are once again partnering to produce Remembering the Children: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the annual national commemorative gathering in Ottawa.

The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) announced Tuesday a selection of six NFB-produced and co-produced films will be presented at the 2025 Windsor International Film Festival (WIFF) this fall.
The NFB lineup at WIFF, which runs from Oct. 23 to Nov. 2, includes documentaries by acclaimed Ontario directors as well as groundbreaking stories by indigenous filmmakers across the country, an NFB press release said.

CBC/Radio-Canada saw its revenue increase 4.4 per cent to $120.7 million in the first quarter of its 2025-2026 fiscal year, compared to the same period in the previous year, according to its quarterly report released earlier this month.
The increase was primarily due to higher TV and digital advertising revenue mostly due to the federal election in April and greater news engagement, CBC’s report says, adding the revenue increase was partially offset by softening demand and declining audiences. Subscriber revenue is higher due to increased subscriber volumes on CBC/Radio-Canada’s digital platforms, the report says.

CBC on Tuesday launched its new fall slate of original podcasts, including new additions to its investigative series Uncover as well as an exploration of the Norval Morrisseau art fraud case.

CBC announced last week the five-part revenge thriller Reunion from BBC Studios will be available to stream on CBC Gem beginning Friday, Sept. 19.

Telus Fund, a Certified Independent Production Fund that administers Telus’s financial contributions in support of Canadian content promoting health and well-being, announced Wednesday it has appointed media executive Leah Camenzind as its new executive director.

WildBrain has announced it’s ending its broadcast channel business, including Family Channel, Family Jr., WildBrainTV and Télémagino.
The kids’ and family entertainment purveyor said it has been unable to negotiate a new carriage agreement with Rogers to carry the aforementioned channels after the CRTC found the cable giant wasn’t subjecting them to an undue disadvantage.
