COGECO AND CBC both announced yesterday plans to broadcast special programming to honour the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Sept. 30.
Cogeco announced “YourTV stations throughout Ontario will be airing special programming produced by Indigenous Peoples for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation,” a company press release says.
The programming, which will air from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and again from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., includes Cultural Mindfulness, directed by George Couchie, We Are Still Here, directed by Dwayne Cloes and Wawahte: Residential School Survivors, directed by John Sanfilippo.

FOR MOST OF ITS SHORT life, Bill C-10, your now-dead proposed amendment to our Broadcasting Act, trundled along, hardly noticed by those outside the content industry.

TORONTO — Sportsnet announced today award-winning play-by-play hockey commentator Jim Hughson is retiring from sports broadcasting after a 42-year career, which included stints at Sportsnet, CBC and TSN.

CBC SPORTS AND U SPORTS announced today they have reached a four-year agreement for the exclusive English-language digital broadcast rights for U Sports national championships.
The Canadian university sports organization “also announced Monday that CBC Sports will be the English television home of the 56th Vanier Cup at Université Laval’s TELUS-UL Stadium on Dec. 4,” a press release says.

TORONTO – Sportsnet today announced its regional broadcast schedules for the upcoming NHL season.
The network is set to “deliver all 82 Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks games this season, plus 56 exclusive Toronto Maple Leafs games on TV and streaming platforms,” a press release says.
The regional “schedule will reach viewers across Sportsnet East, Ontario, West & Pacific, Sportsnet ONE and Sportsnet 360, with national coverage also available on CBC, Citytv, OMNI Television and across the Sportsnet Radio Network throughout the season.”

TORONTO – Piazza Entertainment today announced today filming has begun in Manitoba and Ontario for Skymed, a new 10-episode original drama ordered by CBC and Paramount+.

MONTREAL – With a week to go until the election, a debate on culture was organized, entirely in French, by the Coalition for the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (CDCE) and the University of Montreal’s Department of Communication, and was aired today by CPAC.
