WINNIPEG – APTN has appointed Wayne Clark as Senior Program Officer, Independent Production and New Media, to be based in the Aboriginal TV network’s Winnipeg headquarters.
Clark has more than seven years of new media production experience with Unlimited Digital Communications, producing projects for the CBC, converging TV properties, and the Virtual Museum of Canada.

OTTAWA – Senior vice-president policy and regulatory affairs David Keeble has resigned from the Canadian Association of Broadcasters.
After leaving his spot as senior director, strategic planning and regulatory affairs at the CBC, Keeble became a consultant and has worked for CHUM, Bell Canada, Canadian Heritage, the CBC and the CRTC.
Keeble joined the CAB in the fall of 2004 but has decided to return to consulting, he told Cartt.ca. Today was final day

OTTAWA – Moses Znaimer has now officially returned to broadcasting.
Today the CRTC approved his company’s purchase of classical music radio station CFMX Toronto from Trumar Communications, which is owned by Martin Rosenthal. MZ Media will pay $12 million for the station, it’s digital license and Cobourg repeater.
Znaimer, as most will know, is an accomplished Canadian broadcaster best known for his many years shaping the TV brands of CHUM Ltd. He was a co-founder of Citytv after starting his career with CBC.

WINNIPEG – So much for the DSL disadvantage.

OTTAWA – The CRTC called for a TV policy review because of the dramatically shifting nature of the broadcast and distribution industry. But, says Telus, it is this uncertainty created by the ongoing shifts that means conventional broadcasters’ requests for a wholesale fee for carriage should be carved out of the review for consideration separately.

TORONTO – Women in Film and Television – Toronto and CBC Television, have launched the 2006 CBC Canadian Reflections Award and are calling for applications.
The national competitive award will give one emerging Canadian female filmmaker "the opportunity to receive creative support from CBC Television to develop a concept project to showcase the diversity of Canada," says the press release.
The winner will receive $7,500 to go towards production costs of a program of up to 30 minutes in length, as well as consultation with a CBC drama executive. The winner will be announced at the 2006 Crystal Awards Gala…

TORONTO – Music reality shows are facing off all summer long and two press releases sent Wednesday (received by Cartt.ca within a half hour of each other) each claim its network won Tuesday night.
While two can declare wins, it’s pretty easy to see who lost.
