TORONTO — Toronto Maple Leaf tough guy Tie Domi is retiring to become a commentator on TSN.
The Leafs bought out his contract at the end of last season. Domi announced at an emotional news conference in Toronto this afternoon that while he had offers to play for other teams, “I just couldn’t put on another jersey…other than blue and white.”
Domi said he’ll be a regular hockey analyst on TSN’s Wednesday night NHL broadcasts. “The people at TSN have been incredible. I’ve never felt so wanted in my life.”

OTTAWA – The CBC has won the rights to broadcast the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup and other soccer games in a seven-year deal.
CBC/Radio-Canada, in partnership with Telelatino, has the rights to show FIFA games from 2007 to 2014, including the World Cup in South Africa in 2010, the World Cup in 2014, the FIFA Women’s World Cup in China 2007, and the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2011. TORONTO – Sue Sheridan’s position was made official today.
After serving as interim executive director of Women in Film and Television – Toronto for most of the year, Sheridan was given the full title. She joined WIFT-T in 2005 as director of programming development and was named acting managing director in 2006.

VICTORIA – CBC’s editor in chief Tony Burman called Joan Donaldson "a news pioneer and one of CBC’s journalistic leaders," in a note to staff last week announcing her death. She was 60.
