TORONTO – Indie production company Blink49 Studios, backed by global producer and distributor Fifth Season (formerly Endeavor Content), announced Tuesday it is acquiring a majority stake in Vancouver-based Front Street Pictures.
Marking Blink49’s first corporate acquisition, the strategic investment in Front Street Pictures is aimed at increasing the Toronto-based indie studio’s operations throughout Canada, a press release says.

CBC last Friday announced journalist Travis Dhanraj will be the new host of CBC News Network’s daily prime time program Canada Tonight, starting in January.
This follows prior host Ginella Massa’s departure from the program during the summer.
Canada Tonight recently expanded to a two-hour format, airing from 7 to 9 p.m. ET on weeknights, “a longer format that will build on Dhanraj’s strengths,” says a CBC press release.

OTTAWA – Heritage Minister Pascale St-Onge announced Tuesday the appointment of former Videotron executive Stephanie Paquette to the seat of regional commissioner of Quebec for the CRTC.

Bell Media and Fox Entertainment Global have struck a new licensing and distribution pact that sees the companies partner to support original Canadian productions for Bell Media platforms, including CTV and Crave, and FOX in the U.S.
