TORONTO – CBC/Radio-Canada’s new strategy will result in a leaner, focused, more modern and financially sustainable public broadcaster by 2020, president and CEO Hubert Lacroix promised Thursday in a town hall session with employees.

TORONTO – More than half of all Canadians are willing to pay more than the $29 they currently contribute through their taxes in support of CBC/Radio-Canada, according to the public broadcaster.

OTTAWA – Canadians’ love of their smartphones and tablets continues unabated, with some 67% of Anglophones now reporting that they have smartphones, and 45% have tablets, according to the Media Technology Monitor (MTM).

TORONTO – CBC has partnered with Wheelchair Basketball Canada to provide live streaming coverage of the upcoming 2014 Women’s World Wheelchair Basketball Championship at CBCSports.ca from June 20-28.
CBC’s website will carry each of the 44 games from the tournament including all of Team Canada’s games. OTTAWA – Unions representing employees of CBC/Radio-Canada staged a rally in Ottawa Tuesday, near the building where the 12 members of CBC/RC's board of directors are meeting for two days.
