NEW YORK – CBC Radio won Broadcaster of the Year at the New York Festivals on Monday night, plus took home an additional 25 awards during the annual awards gala held in New York City.

TORONTO – Rogers unveiled the first 200 games of its 350 NHL game schedule Sunday, slated to air across CBC, City, Sportsnet (East, Ontario, West, and Pacific), Sportsnet One, Sportsnet 360 and FX Canada.
The action kicks off Wednesday, October 8 with an all-Canadian double-header featuring Toronto vs. Montreal and Vancouver vs. Calgary on Sportsnet, and Rogers said that it will announce its remaining national and regional broadcast schedules in the coming weeks.

OTTAWA – Canadians’ love of their smartphones and tablets continues unabated, with some 67% of Anglophones now reporting that they have smartphones, and 45% have tablets, according to the Media Technology Monitor (MTM).
The Spring 2014 Adoption Report is a summary of penetration trends of audio and video technologies delivered over traditional, Internet and mobile platforms. TORONTO – CBC has partnered with Wheelchair Basketball Canada to provide live streaming coverage of the upcoming 2014 Women’s World Wheelchair Basketball Championship at CBCSports.ca from June 20-28.
CBC’s website will carry each of the 44 games from the tournament including all of Team Canada’s games. Team Canada has never finished out of the top three at this event and will be aiming for a record seventh consecutive podium finish this year. OTTAWA – Unions representing employees of CBC/Radio-Canada staged a rally in Ottawa Tuesday, near the building where the 12 members of CBC/RC's board of directors are meeting for two days.
Alex Levasseur, president of the Syndicat des communications de Radio-Canada (FNC-CSN), said that the action was meant “to condemn the impending new cuts” at the national broadcaster.

TORONTO – When Brazil and Croatia take to the pitch this afternoon in the opening match of the 2014 World Cup, it will kick off a month of record-breaking Canadian TV, online and mobile audiences, according to a new survey from Toronto’s Solutions Research Group.

TORONTO – CBC/Radio-Canada’s month-long coverage of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil kicks off Thursday on TV, radio, online at cbc.ca/fifaworldcup for computers, and through an interactive app for mobile devices and tablets.
Coverage begins with the opening ceremony on June 12, live at 2:00 PM ET (11:00 AM PT) followed by the opening match between Brazil and Croatia.
