TORONTO – Ontario media outlets are joining together to broadcast a televised Ontario Leaders Debate in the lead up to the 2018 Ontario general election.
CBC, CHCH, CPAC, CTV News, Global News, and TVO will air the debate, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 27 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM ET at the CBC Broadcast Centre in downtown Toronto. CHCH will air the debate from 8:00 PM – 9:30 PM.

MONTREAL – CBC/Radio-Canada's French-language online VoD service bulked up on new content Tuesday after inking new programming agreements with Groupe V Média (V), Bell Media (Canal Vie, Canal D, Z and VRAK), TV5 Québec Canada (TV5 and Unis TV) and the National Film of Canada (NFB).

TORONTO – CBC must stop destroying its “irreplaceable” original radio and television programming after digitizing them, says the Canadian Broadcast Museum Foundation (CBMF).
According to the charitable foundation, CBC’s English Services has trashed almost a million acetate transcriptions, audio and video tapes, and other legacy master-recordings – or eight decades of Canada’s English-language radio and television history – since the beginning of April, despite pleas from stakeholders such as ACTRA, Actra Fraternal Benefits Society, and Friends of Canadian Broadcasting seeking to preserve them.

TORONTO – CBC/Radio-Canada ranked first among Canadians’ most trusted brands, says a new study by Proof Inc. (formerly Environics Communications).
The third annual CanTrust Index is an online sample of 1,560 Canadians conducted between January 18 and February 5, 2018, and is nationally representative by region, age and gender. It found continuing strong levels of trust among Canadians in their institutions, leaders, media and information sources.
The study said that the public sector continues to lead the trust race versus the private sector, as Canadians continue to express trust in their government services, led by hospitals and universities/colleges which are tied at 63%.
