OTTAWA – On any given day last month, about 180 drug users dropped by a supervised injection site operated by Ottawa Inner City Health in the parking lot of a homeless shelter in the city’s Byward Market neighbourhood. Most were men, with an average age of 45, struggling with mental-health issues and addicted to opioids.
“Many of them don’t have access to healthcare and mental-health care, which will drive opioid use,” Wendy Muckle, CEO of Ottawa Inner City Health, told Cartt.ca.

Wants independent experts to examine Competition Bureau’s confidential information

GATINEAU – Telus has asked the CRTC to again delay the public hearing portion of its wireless policy review hearing because it says the Competition Bureau’s handling of confidential information filed with to the Commission in November is unfair to other participants.

VANCOUVER – Telus announced late Wednesday it has agreed, through its Telus International division, to acquire privately-owned Competence Call Center (CCC) for approximately $1.3 billion, consisting of debt and equity, subject to customary closing adjustments.
CCC, says the press release, is a “provider of higher-value-added business services with a focus on customer relationship management and content moderation. VANCOUVER — The remote Indigenous community of Ahousaht, located off the west coast of Tofino on Vancouver Island, is getting high-speed wireless voice, text and Internet service for the first time, thanks to a $500,000 investment in a new cell site by Telus.
