OTTAWA – More information is being sought on how the recent nationwide Rogers outage impacted the company’s deaf, hard of hearing and deaf-blind (DHHDB) customers and wholesale customers.

OTTAWA – When the federal government announced it was proposing a new telecommunications policy direction to the CRTC back in May, it emphasized how it would improve competition.

MONTREAL — TVA Group’s TVA Sports channel announced today the extension of its broadcast rights agreement with the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), making it the exclusive French-language broadcaster in Canada of the WTA’s international tournaments until the end of 2026.
“The network will broadcast all the WTA 500 and 1000 tournaments as well as the (WTA) 250 competitions featuring the country’s female players,” who include Quebecer Leylah Fernandez and Bianca Andreescu, notes an announcement on TVA Sports’ website (translated into English).

OTTAWA — Independent broadcaster Torres Media Group announced last week Danny Kingsbury (above) has been hired for a new role as executive programming advisor.

OTTAWA – The owner of OneSoccer, Timeless Inc., has filed a Part 1 application with the CRTC alleging Rogers Cable is in breach of the Broadcasting Distribution Regulations by refusing to carry the dedicated Canadian soccer channel on its cable systems.

TORONTO – The Ontario government announced today it is helping bring high-speed Internet access to up to 266,000 homes and businesses as it seeks to connect all premises in the province by the end of 2025.
“The province has signed agreements with eight internet service providers to bring access to as many as 339 municipalities across Ontario,” a press release explains. “The internet service providers were selected through a two-stage competitive process and are part of Ontario’s historic investment of nearly $4 billion to bring access to reliable high-speed internet across the province.”

MONTREAL – Quebecor Inc. today announced its second quarter 2022 financial results, which states revenue for the quarter was $1.1 billion – a decreased of $16 million compared to Q2 2021.

The new channels include Euronews Spanish, Euronews Portuguese, Euronews German, Euronews Greek, Euronews Russian, Euronews Hungarian, Euronews Italian and Pulse TV, an English-language music video entertainment channel.
