TORONTO – Rogers is launching a new marketing campaign in support of its LTE network accompanied by the tagline Get Blown Away by Rogers LTE.
The campaign includes a direct-to-consumer challenge, the Rogers Blown Away Speed Challenge, where Canadians are encouraged to test Rogers LTE experience against other carriers using devices like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and LG G2. TORONTO – Rogers Communications has created a new operating unit called Rogers Data Centres and will open a new flagship data centre in Calgary early next year.
The company said Wednesday that its Calgary facility will open in January, 2014 with 80,000 square feet of raised space, state-of-the-art and highly efficient cooling systems, world-class security measures, 24/7 support, and will meet Uptime Institute's Tier III standards. Rogers also said that it has expanded its Edmonton facility with approximately 6,000 square feet of newly-constructed raised floor space.

CALGARY – Rogers cable customers can get the ‘plane’ truth with the launch of the WestJet Channel on channel 206.
From now through February 2nd, viewers will be enticed to fly to some of the company’s sunny destination including Grand Cayman, Bermuda, Puerto Plata, Holguin and St. Martin-St. Maarten. TORONTO – Under creditor protection since September, wireless carrier Mobilicity has won Ontario Superior Court of Justice approval to pursue the formal sale of the company.
On Wednesday, the company’s debtors received a sale procedure order from the court approving the sale of “substantially all of the business and assets or shares” of the company (known legally as Data & Audio Visual Enterprises, or DAVE).

TORONTO – With the Ontario chapter of SCTE growing to more than 500 members since its inception in mid-2003, making it the second-largest chapter membership in North America, it is now calling for board nominations to maintain the chapter’s strong leadership.

OTTAWA – Use it or lose it. That was the gist of Industry Minister James Moore’s message to Canadian spectrum holders on Thursday.
Following up on a Throne Speech promise that Canadians living in rural areas have greater access to high-speed Internet services, Minister Moore said that Industry Canada will begin renewing 2300 MHz and 3500 MHz spectrum licences next March, but will deny extension requests from holders whose licence conditions – especially deployment – have not been met.
