Canadian Fiber Optics builds 10 Gbps network in rural Alberta town

VALLEYVIEW, Alta. — Rural Internet service provider Canadian Fiber Optics (CFOC) announced Tuesday the launch of its privately funded, residential 10 Gbps fibre-optic network in Valleyview, Alta., saying it’s the fastest residential Internet network in Canada. “Thousands of times faster than what is currently offered in most rural communities, the first customers will enjoy blazing fast internet late summer,” reads CFOC’s press release. Mediapro Canada is host broadcaster of FIBA Olympic qualifying tournament

TORONTO — Mediapro Canada announced late Tuesday night it is providing host broadcast services for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, which tipped off yesterday in Victoria, B.C., where the national teams from Canada, Greece, Turkey, China, Czech Republic and Uruguay are competing for the final spot in the men’s basketball tournament at the Olympic Games in Tokyo next month. Jennifer Brown named as SOCAN’s permanent CEO

TORONTO — SOCAN, Canada’s largest music and visual arts rights management organization, has officially appointed Jennifer Brown (above) as its CEO, effective today. Brown has been the organization’s interim CEO since April 2020, following the announcement at that time of former CEO Eric Baptiste’s resignation. Monday was the deadline for parties to file a court appeal against the Commission’s decision.
