OTTAWA – Wireless services once again topped the list of complaints made to Canada's Commissioner for Complaints for Telecommunications Services (CCTS) for the fifth straight year, according to its 2012-2013 Annual Report ‘When You Need Help’ released Wednesday.
The CCTS handled 14,036 customer complaints in 2012-2013, well up from 10,678 in the previous year, which is not surprising as more and more Canadians ditch feature phones for rich smartphones. Wireless services complaints comprised 60.4% of all complaints, followed by 19.5% for Internet access, 16.4% for local telephone service and 3.7% for long distance.

OTTAWA – Industry Canada on Tuesday released its decisions on the licensing framework for fixed-satellite service (FSS), broadcasting-satellite service (BSS), and a revised fee proposal.
The document contains decisions related to changes in various elements of Industry Canada’s satellite licensing framework, including:
– the use of a new first-come, first-served process to assign satellite spectrum, including for FSS and BSS spectrum;
– the licence and fee regime applicable to assignments of FSS and BSS spectrum; and
– the obligations associated with FSS and BSS satellite licences.

DARTMOUTH, NS – Despite a dip in revenue, Newfoundland Capital Corporation Limited saw its third quarter profits increase by more than $9 million.
For the third quarter ending September 30, 2013, Newcap reported revenue of $32.7 million, $0.5 million or 2% lower than last year. But profit for the period of $8.7 million was $9.7 million higher than last year's loss of $1.1 million.

TORONTO – Digital media management company Yangaroo said Wednesday that it has finalized a three year agreement with Brazil-based music industry entrepreneur Goran Andersson for digital delivery of broadcast audio and music video.
