Cameron is a 14-year veteran of the CATV/telecommunication industry with extensive knowledge in fibre optics, RF, FTTH design and network deployments. OTTAWA – Film and television production in Canada experienced an overall decrease in production volume of 0.8% to $5.82 billion from $5.86 billion between 2011/12 and 2012/13, according to a new report from the Canadian Media Production Association (CMPA).
The report, Profile 2013: An Economic Report on the Screen-Based Production Industry in Canada, provides a statistical overview of the three main screen-based production sectors in Canada: Canadian production (includes television and theatrical), foreign location and service production, and broadcaster in-house production. These sectors helped sustain 127,700 full-time jobs in 2012-2013.

WHILE THE CANADIAN SUBSCRIPTION television market is at the beginning of a decade-long decay, growth is still in the cards for cable and telecom companies in Canada thanks to the world’s shift to broadband, says a new report from Scotiabank.

OTTAWA – Canada’s wireless industry is one step closer to implementing the Text with 9-1-1 (T9-1-1) service for the deaf, deafened, hard of hearing or speech impaired (DHHSI) community in Canada.
The Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) said Friday that its members across the country have completed all of the required network upgrades to implement T9-1-1, as per the CRTC’s directive last year. The T9-1-1 service, however, is not yet available in any region of the country until 9-1-1 call centres also complete technology upgrades.

TORONTO – Verizon Wireless' strong wireless growth in fiscal year 2013 may bode well for Canadian incumbent wireless carriers, says an industry analyst.
In a note to clients on Tuesday, Dvai Ghose, Managing Director/Head of Research for Canaccord Genuity, said that incumbent wireless subscriber growth in North America still looks to be “robust despite maturation”, and predicted postpaid subscriber base increases at all three Canadian incumbents when they post their financial results for 2013 within the next few weeks. He estimates a 5.7% year-over-year increase at Bell Mobility, a 4.7% uptick at Telus Mobility and a 3.2% rise at Rogers Wireless.
