With contributions falling, IPF to run Cogeco’s program development fund

MONTREAL and TORONTO – The Cogeco Program Development Fund, the Independent Production Fund and Cogeco Communications announced Monday they’ve concluded an agreement to ensure “the sustainability of the CPDF's Canadian television production funding activities,” says the press release. GATINEAU – Toronto-based lawyer Monique Lafontaine has been named the CRTC’s new Commissioner for Ontario. Wednesday’s announcement by Heritage Minister Mélanie Joly says that Lafontaine (pictured) brings over 17 years' experience in entertainment and communications law to the role, and that her areas of specialization include television, radio, new media regulation, program licencing and affiliation agreements, stakeholder relations, and anti-spam and privacy legislation. Electric vehicles, beehives, help lessen CBC/Radio-Canada’s environmental load

OTTAWA – Decreases in CO2 emissions and water consumption helped to boost results in the CBC/Radio-Canada’s latest corporate Environmental Performance Report. The report highlights the public broadcaster's environmental performance from April 2016 to March 2017. Footprint decreases were recorded in most company categories, most notably with fleet vehicle CO2 emissions dropping 10.7% and water consumption decreasing 8.6% versus 2015-2016. In terms of industry benchmarks, the report says that the broadcaster performed better than the BOMA BEST certified building standard for water consumption and the Natural Resources Canada standard for energy consumption.
