TORONTO – The Canadian Media Guild came to the bargaining table Thursday with a settlement offer. Management was not encouraged, to say the least.

OTTAWA – The Federal Minister of Labour, Joe Fontana, has requested that representatives of CBC and the Canadian Media Guild meet with him on Monday, September 26 in Ottawa to discuss the CBC lockout.
“CBC is happy to attend, and welcomes any opportunity to move the parties closer to a negotiated settlement,” said a CBC release this afternoon.
As reported by www.cartt.ca, the negotiations appeared to take a bit of a step back this week and the optimism that was building through the past 10 days or so was killed.

TORONTO – Agreement was reached Tuesday night on one of the most important issues in the lockout, the Canadian Media Guild said on Wednesday.
The CMG and CBC management finalized the wording on the article on "contracting out." TORONTO – The inauguration of Canada’s 27th Governor General will be shown on CTV in high definition, the broadcaster announced late Wednesday.
On Tuesday, September 27, CTV News will broadcast live the inauguration of former CBC host Michaelle Jean as she succeeds Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson. With this announcement, CTV likely becomes the first Canadian broadcaster to produce and deliver a news event in high definition.

TORONTO – “The CBC is disappointed to announce that, as a result of ongoing efforts by the Canadian Media Guild (CMG) to undermine the September 16th Terry Fox 25th Anniversary Special, the program will not carry coverage of events in St. John’s, the city where Terry began the Marathon of Hope in 1980,” reads a CBC press release.
