The office of Canadian Heritage Minister Pascale St-Onge says a decision has yet to be finalized on who will succeed CBC/Radio-Canada President Catherine Tait.
Several Quebec media outlets, including Radio-Canada reported this week that TV5 Québec Canada CEO Marie-Philippe Bouchard, will replace Tait in January, citing unnamed sources.
In an email to Cartt’s sister publication Broadcast Dialogue, Canadian Heritage said a candidate has yet been confirmed for the position.

CBC has expanded its free ad-supported streaming portfolio with the launch of CBC Heartland and CBC Murdoch Mysteries FAST channels featuring 17 seasons each of the long-running series.

CBC News and Radio-Canada Info have been recertified by the Journalism Trust Initiative (JTI), announced the public broadcaster Thursday.
The certification is essentially a publicly visible mark that assures users that the news produced by the organization is trustworthy.
To get the certification, news organizations must pass external audits done by the Alliance for Audited Media.
The JTI was launched by Reporters Without Borders and its partners in 2018 to combat disinformation. CBC/Radio-Canada’s news services were the first Canadian broadcast media to get the certification.

Paramount’s free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) service Pluto TV announced Wednesday it is debuting a string of FAST channels dedicated to news, including four from Canada’s public broadcaster.
FAST channels set to launch next month on Pluto TV in Canada, include CBC News Explore, CBC News Toronto, CBC News British Columbia and Radio-Canada Info. More than 11 million Canadians tuned in to CBC/Radio-Canada’s broadcast coverage of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games over 12 days.
This year’s coverage included three live daily shows on CBC television, and more than 1,000 hours of live streaming content on CBC Gem, its dedicated Paris 2024 website, and CBC’s Paris 2024 app. Canada competed in 18 of the event’s 22 sports.
CBC’s Paris 2024 coverage marked the most coverage in Canada of a Paralympic Games to date, with the public broadcaster noting record audience increases across broadcast, digital and streaming, which it says illustrates Canadians’ increased interest in Paralympic competition.
