ANNVILLE, PA – TVC Communications has promoted Ricardo Simpson to the newly created position of vice-president, IP sales and engineering.
Simpson had been most recently the director of the IP business unit for TVC Latin America, working for TVC Canada president Steve Quinn, who also oversees Latin America for the cable and broadband supply company. Simpson’s new position has been created to fill the increased activity that TVC is experiencing in the design, installation, and integration of IP based technical products and services throughout the Western Hemisphere, says the company
He will be responsible for TVC’s sales of IP products, engineering, and services. “Ricardo’s strong technical background and business unit management experience will help drive TVC’s increasing presence in the IP world," said Jim Manari, Chief Operating Officer of TVC.
“Increasingly, we are working closely with our customers in offering the IP products, technical services, and the system solutions, they need to stay competitive. Customers realize that the deployment of the triple play combination of; voice, video, and data, is now required in order to increase revenue per subscriber, reduce churn, and grow asset value,” said Simpson, who has been in the telecommunications field since 1994.
He began his career in CATV with Metropolis-Intercom, S.A, in Santiago, Chile. Today that company has merged into VTR GlobalCom, S.A, the largest provider of voice, video and data in Chile, and a part of Liberty Global, Inc, the world’s biggest multiple system cable operator outside of the United States. He has also worked as director of planning for the ISP Business Unit of Telefonica, S.A. (today known as Terra Networks) one of the largest telephone network operators in the world.
Following that he worked as a consultant service manager for IBM Global Services, Chile, before joining TVC in 2000. At TVC he was one of the founding members of the IP Business Unit, the TVC group charged with both selling and integrating advanced technologies including; VOD, high speed Internet access infrastructure, and VOIP systems.
