Telus rebrands strategic investment arm as Telus Global Ventures

Telus announced Wednesday its strategic investment arm, Telus Ventures, has been rebranded as Telus Global Ventures, as the company aims to position itself as a global leader seeking new investment opportunities in global markets.

“As one of the world’s most active corporate venture capital funds, TELUS Global Ventures has invested in more than 150 companies that are poised for significant growth and market transformation, spanning across 10 countries and five continents,” says a Telus press release announcing the fund’s rebranding.

In 2023, Telus Global Ventures participated in 30 venture deals and invested more than USD $175 million, according to the release.

“We are on a mission to invest in the best companies globally, and to make sure there is mutual value,” Terry Doyle, managing partner of Telus Global Ventures, said in the release. “Our portfolio companies gain more than an investor — they gain a collaborator known for turning concepts into market realities. The relationships we build with these transformational companies, in turn, helps TELUS shape and drive our business strategy.”

Telus Global Ventures also amplifies social impact through the Telus Pollinator Fund for Good, launched in 2020, which invests in socially purposed startups driving social and environmental change to address some of the world’s biggest challenges, the release says.

Recent investments by Telus Global Ventures and the Telus Pollinator Fund for Good include: Canadian reforestation company Flash Forest, which uses drone and automation technology and ecological science to regenerate post-wildfire areas; Detroit-based autonomous smart building startup Kode Labs; Bristol, U.K.-based mental health services company TalkLife; and London, U.K.-based accessibility-first navigation app tech startup Waymap.
