RIMOUSKI – A strong majority of the members of the Syndicat des agents de maîtrise de Telus (SAMT) have voted to accept the Memorandum of Agreement reached with Telus management on July 4, 2008, as recommended by the negotiating committee.
The SAMT covers more than 500 people employed in professional and supervisory positions working in the Lower Saint Lawrence, the Gaspé, Montreal, Quebec, Sainte-Marie, Saint-Georges, Baie-Comeau and Sept-Iles regions.
"The new collective agreement accepted by Telus professionals and supervisors affirms our commitment to our team and to our clients, while reflecting the reality of today’s dynamic telecommunications environment," said Karen Radford, president of Telus Québec, in a release.
"We are very pleased that the unionized members of our team have ratified this agreement, and that we will continue to grow our business in Quebec together."
Under the terms of the new contract, "SAMT members will enjoy, in addition to base salary, a progressive performance bonus increase based on meeting personal and corporate objectives. Members will also have more flexible insurance coverage," says the release.
The terms of the new collective agreement will remain in effect until December 31, 2011. Telus currently employs 5,000 in Quebec.
