TORONTO – Chris Sisam has been named general manager for Corus Radio Toronto, replacing JJ Johnson, who was named GM of Corus’ Vancouver radio cluster in December.
Johnson replaces Lou Del Gobbo, who, as reported by cartt.ca, is retiring this month.
Most recently vice-president of sales, Sisam has overseen Corus Radio’s sales activities since 2004. Sisam spearheaded the Corus Radio sales guarantee/sales professional code of ethics initiative, which was lauded by the Association of Canadian Advertisers.
“Chris was the obvious choice to oversee our Toronto cluster,” said John Hayes, president, Corus Radio. “His strong management skills and extensive experience in both sales and operations give him the expertise and perspective required to succeed in Canada’s largest market.”
A graduate of the University of Western Ontario, Sisam’s career started in 1983 as a media assistant at advertising firm Ogilvy and Mather. He entered the broadcasting industry as a national sales representative with Paul Mulvihill Ltd. in 1984.
Sisam has been with Corus since its inception in 1999. Originally GSM at 102.1 the Edge, when the station was acquired by Corus, Sisam became the director of sales for Toronto, encompassing the Edge, Q107 and CFMJ-AM. He then moved to Hamilton in 2002 as general manager of AM900 CHML and Y108 before eventually accepting the VP of sales position back in Toronto.
Sisam currently sits on the board of directors for Canadian Broadcast Sales and the Radio Marketing Bureau.
