VANCOUVER – Telus Health has bought British Columbia-based electronic medical record provider Med Access Inc., the company said Monday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Kelowna-based company provides electronic medical record (EMR) services to 2,000 specialty and general practice physicians in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario. The acquisition brings the total Telus Health EMR reach to more than 12,500 Canadian physicians, supporting more than 45 million patient interactions each year.

OTTAWA and VANCOUVER – Incumbent telco Telus has withdrawn its membership from the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA).
CWTA, which describes itself as “the authority on wireless issues, developments and trends in Canada”, represents cellular, PCS, messaging, mobile radio, fixed wireless and mobile satellite carriers as well as companies that develop and produce products and services for the industry.

VANCOUVER – Telus announced Friday that it will purchase up to 5.33 million of its common shares through private agreements with three arm’s-length third-party sellers.
The company said the common shares will be counted towards the 16 million common shares for a maximum purchase price of $500 million under its normal course issuer bid announced December 12, 2013.
The transactions must take place prior to September 30, 2014, as ordered by the Ontario Securities Commission.

Vancouver, B.C. – Telus finished 2014 with another strong quarter that saw double digit percentage growth in net profit and a 3.4% increase in operating revenue.
Telus announced Thursday its consolidated revenue for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2013 was at $2.95 billion, driven by increases in both its wireless and wireless business. EBITDA increased by 3.6% to $951 million. Net profit rose 10.3% to $290 million, while earnings per share rose by 17.5% to $0.47, compared to $0.40 in the same period a year earlier.
