Telus Health expands EMR business with Nightingale acquisition

TORONTO – Telus Health is buying the Canadian business of Nightingale Informatix Corp., including its proprietary Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software solutions and related assets. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.  Nightingale currently provides its EMR solution to 4,000 physicians in Canada, mainly in Ontario and the Atlantic provinces. Canadians keen for digital healthcare technology, says Telus Health study

TORONTO – While Canadians can order a pizza, a movie or a taxi online or from an app on their smartphone, they are surprisingly unaware of technology solutions that will allow them to better manage their healthcare, according to a study commissioned by Telus Health. Telus’ spending in Quebec to focus on Montreal

MONTREAL – Telus will invest $111 million in its communications infrastructure across Greater Montreal this year on its advanced fibre optic network that will stretch more than 4,000 kilometres, the company said Monday. The investment, part of Telus’ pledge to spend $2 billion in Quebec through 2020, will increase the network's transmission capacity and extend its reach into sectors including Old Montreal, Anjou, Boucherville, Dorval, Île-Bizard, Pierrefonds and Pointe-Claire. Former Telus exec named CFO at Corus

TORONTO – John Gossling has been named executive vice-president and chief financial officer at Corus Entertainment where he will replace the retiring Tom Peddie. Gossling left Telus less than a month ago after 3 ½ years.  His prior career experiences include CFO at CTVglobemedia Inc., VP financial operations at Rogers Communications and CFO at Rogers Wireless, and partner at KPMG LLP. VANCOUVER – Telus is selling 35% of its international call centre and business process services subsidiary Telus International to an Asian private equity firm in a deal worth about $600 million. Telus’ spending in Ontario zeros in on Toronto, Ottawa

MONTREAL and WINNIPEG – BCE Inc. is buying Manitoba Telecom Services (MTS) in a transaction valued at $3.9 billion, the companies announced early Monday. The combined company's Manitoba operations will be known as Bell MTS, recognizing the power of the MTS brand in the province.
