OTTAWA – The federal government today announced over $5 million in funding to bring high-speed Internet to over 3,300 households in British Columbia.
This announcement is part of the $830-million partnership between the federal and B.C. governments announced in March to support projects improving access to high-speed Internet in rural, remote and Indigenous communities across the province.

EDMONTON — Telus Communications today announced the ScaleGood Fund, a new $10-million social impact investment venture capital fund based out of Edmonton.

SEATTLE – Telus Communications was the fastest mobile operator of Canada’s top providers in the first quarter of 2022, according to mobile and broadband testing company Ookla.
Ookla’s more recent quarterly report, released today, shows Telus had a median download speed of 94.48 Mbps, which was faster than Bell (86.06 Mbps), Rogers (71.7 Mbps), Fido (66.85 Mbps), Videotron (58.82 Mbps) and Freedom Mobile (45 Mbps). (Please see chart above.)

TORONTO – Telus announced today it has partnered with the Vector Institute to launch the Energy Optimization System (EOS), which is designed to help reduce operational costs and electricity consumption in data centres across Canada using AI technology.
“This collaborative development uses model-based reinforcement learning (MBRL) to fine tune the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems across network locations, allowing for energy-efficient temperature control,” a press release explains.

COQUITLAM, B.C. and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (KWIKWETLEM) – Telus Communications announced yesterday it is investing $110 million to bring its fibre optic network to homes and businesses in Coquitlam and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm First Nation.
The company’s advanced, PureFibre X network provides Internet speeds of 2.5 Gbps, a press release explains.
