MONTREAL — Telus Health announced today the expansion of its MyCare mental health counselling services to Quebec residents, who can now speak to provincially licensed, bilingual counsellors from home.

TORONTO – Telus announced today it has partnered with the Vector Institute to launch the Energy Optimization System (EOS), which is designed to help reduce operational costs and electricity consumption in data centres across Canada using AI technology.
“This collaborative development uses model-based reinforcement learning (MBRL) to fine tune the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems across network locations, allowing for energy-efficient temperature control,” a press release explains.

COQUITLAM, B.C. and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (KWIKWETLEM) – Telus Communications announced yesterday it is investing $110 million to bring its fibre optic network to homes and businesses in Coquitlam and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm First Nation.
The company’s advanced, PureFibre X network provides Internet speeds of 2.5 Gbps, a press release explains.
A direct connection to the pure fibre-to-the-home network does not cost taxpayers or residents anything, according to the release. Work has already begun in Coquitlam and Telus anticipates most homes and businesses will be connected by the end of next year.

VANCOUVER — Telus Communications announced today it is using its Smart Hub technology and 5G network to bring fixed wireless Internet speeds up to 100 Mbps to nearly 60 rural communities across B.C. and Alberta by the end of the year.

OTTAWA – Comments submitted to Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada’s (ISED) Consultation on a Policy and Licensing Framework for Spectrum in the 3800 MHz Band, show Canada’s telecoms are divided on which, if any, pro-competitive measures should be adopted for the 3800 MHz spectrum auction, expected to be held in 2023.

CALGARY — Telus announced today its Telus Pollinator Fund for Good has invested in Virtual Gurus, “a North American-based marketplace that matches organizations with skilled remote administrative talent while providing income earning opportunities to underrepresented individuals,” a press release says.
Virtual Gurus says it has secured a combined $8.4 million in a funding round led by the Telus Pollinator Fund for Good and supported by other key investors including Raven Indigenous Capital Partners, The51, The Houssian Foundation and Accelerate Fund.
