Telus Q4 revenue and net profit growth driven by strong wireless and wireline business

Vancouver, B.C. – Telus finished 2014 with another strong quarter that saw double digit percentage growth in net profit and a 3.4% increase in operating revenue. Telus announced Thursday its consolidated revenue for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2013 was at $2.95 billion, driven by increases in both its wireless and wireless business. EBITDA increased by 3.6% to $951 million. Net profit rose 10.3% to $290 million, while earnings per share rose by 17.5% to $0.47, compared to $0.40 in the same period a year earlier. OTTAWA – A Senate committee turned to a former broadcast regulator for insight on how to address the challenges facing CBC/Radio-Canada in light of its loss of Hockey Night in Canada to Rogers Communications last year. New technology turns Telus employees’ smartphones into virtual security badges

TORONTO and LONDON, ENGLAND – Telus has announced a partnership with a U.K. software company that will allow its employees to access the company’s secure buildings, networks and sensitive data from anywhere at any time with a simple tap of their smartphones. The partnership with Intercede, a provider of identity and credential management software, will use a technology called MyID that uses universal integrated circuit cards and personal identity verification (PIV) technology from Gemalto, a digital security company based in The Netherlands. CBC snags deals with YouTube, telcos to post Sochi Olympics coverage

TORONTO – CBC has upped the ante on its Olympics coverage, announcing today that its “every hour” coverage of the 2014 Winter Olympics will now also be accessible virtually “everywhere,” thanks to new licensing agreements with Bell, Rogers, Telus, Videotron, and YouTube.
