TELUS brings more speed to its wireless EVDO network

VANCOUVER – Higher speeds have been added to the 3-G wireless, high-speed EVDO network throughout southern Ontario, Montreal and Winnipeg, TELUS Corp. announced Thursday. The telco added faster speeds would be extended to EVDO’s other existing coverage areas, which now reach more than two-thirds of Canadians, later this year. Speeds that are seven times faster than the existing network are possible because TELUS has upgraded in these areas to EVDO Rev A. Telus secures exclusive QMJHL ‘casts

MONTREAL – Telus today announced that it has signed an agreement with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League to webcast all league games on telus.com/qmjhl. This exclusive five-year agreement will allow junior hockey enthusiasts to watch all 630 games of the 2007-2008 season, including the playoffs, live on the Internet. Telus continues its strong results

VANCOUVER – A six per cent increase in revenues, compared to a year ago, to $2.21 billion highlighted first quarter results from Telus. The company cited continued strong wireless and data growth as primary drivers. Telus to spend $23 million on Quebec wireless net

MONTREAL – A day before it holds its AGM in Montreal, Telus today announced an investment of $23 million to expand and enhance its wireless digital network in Quebec in 2007. Telus wins $16.3 million Calgary courts multimedia contract

CALGARY – Telus has been awarded a $16.3-million multimedia contract by the Alberta government for the Calgary Courts Centre, which is scheduled to open this August. The province’s newest courthouse will have state-of-the audio and video technology that will be used in prisoner transfers, the presentation of digital evidence, the linking of remote witnesses and the improvement of courtroom efficiency. Telus expands de-reg applications

VANCOUVER – Telus announced Monday it has applied for local phone service deregulation in Calgary, Victoria, and Rimouski. These applications follow similar filings for Vancouver and Edmonton last Wednesday. The company intends to file additional applications for deregulation in the near future. Telus turns on Klemtu

VANCOUVER – Telus turned on a new cell tower providing digital cellular service to Klemtu last week.
