LONDON – Global mobile measurement company Opensignal released a report this morning showing Canada appears to be ahead many other countries when it comes to delivering wireless services beyond major population centres.

EDMONTON – At an event Tuesday, Telus announced it will invest $16 billion in its wired and wireless networks in Alberta through the next five years as it pushes its PureFibre and builds 5G.

TORONTO – Bell Media’s Discovery will be on a month-long free preview from October 10 to November 7.
Along with the free preview release, Discovery announced new seasons of two of its marquee Canadian series. Season nine of Highway Thru Hell will begin production this fall and Mighty Trains is already in production on season four, with filming taking place in Peru, Japan, Serbia, and other regions.

OTTAWA – As part of its campaign pledge to “make life affordable for Canadian families,” the federal Liberal Party says that if it remains in power following next month’s election, it will “take strong action” to have cellphone bills reduced by 25% within four years and save a family of four nearly $1,000 a year.

MONTREAL, TORONTO and VANCOUVER — Bell, Rogers and Telus all announced Thursday they have each signed reciprocal roaming agreements with AT&T to provide their respective business customers with seamless access to AT&T’s LTE-M network throughout the United States.
In the case of each agreement, a Bell, Rogers or Telus customer will be able to roam on AT&T’s LTE-M network across the US, and AT&T customers in turn will be able to roam on the LTE-M networks operated in Canada by Bell, Rogers and Telus.

GATINEAU – Bell Canada’s Broadcasting Distribution Undertaking (BDU) licence (for Fibe TV) will expire on February 29, 2020 and the CRTC last week published a notice of consultation making Bell’s application public – as well as the correspondence between Bell and the Commission since Bell filed its application in August 2017.
