IN YOUR NEWS REPORT today you suggested Telus supported some form of fee for carriage in Quebec.
To be clear, we are categorically opposed to FFC under any circumstance and in any jurisdiction. We obviously agreed with vice-chair Arpin that the CRTC can develop different rules in Quebec to reflect regional differences, that is something which is provided for in the Broadcasting Act, but we still oppose FFC as a solution, regardless of any regional differences.

GATINEAU – Telus Corp., a relatively new entrant into the broadcast distribution field with the IPTV service it launched in 2006, says it would prefer the regulatory status quo than a descent into a “rabbit hole of new regulations for problems which simply don’t exist”.

OTTAWA – The CRTC will rule on Telus’ controversial network access fee tomorrow and Cartt.ca will have complete coverage of the decision.
The CRTC is reviewing the new fee Telus added to local phone bills after competitor Yak Communications filed a formal complaint last year. The commission has also received complaints from over 400 B.C. residents since the $2.95 charge was added to phone bills last November.
The monthly fee to access Telus’s long-distance network is charged to customers who haven’t signed up for long-distance calling plans with Telus or any of its competitors.

CALGARY – Telus Corp. is telling its customers not to give out personal information to people who call, and to hang up on them as a phone scam has emerged in British Columbia, Alberta and Alberta.
The scam involves someone calling who claims to work for Telus and offers a deal on a phone service. The scam artist asks for personal information, such as social insurance number, credit card number and Telus account numbers.
Telus warns that those customers who hand over the requested information could suffer identity theft or other fraud.

VANCOUVER – TELUS announced on Thursday a proposed offering in Canada of $500 million worth of seven-year senior unsecured Notes.
The Notes will be sold through a syndicate of agents led by Scotia Capital Inc. and that includes RBC Capital Markets Inc., BMO Capital Markets, CIBC World Markets Inc., Desjardins Securities Inc. and HSBC Securities (Canada) Inc.
The Notes will mature on April 15, 2015. The interest rate and other terms will be determined through negotiation with the agents.

TORONTO – Telus Corp. has launched a new low-cost, no-frills mobile service, called Koodo Mobile, that offers talk and text options.
Koodo Mobile’s cheapest plan costs $15 a month for 50 minutes at any time of the day, and 50 text messages. Voicemail, call display, and an unlimited text messaging cost $5 a month or $10 a month for all three.

VANCOUVER – With the completion of a final wireless installation on Mount Byang,
near Port Alice on northern Vancouver Island, most Telus cellphone customers in B.C.
and Alberta now have access to wireless high speed Internet service.
As a result of a three-year, $100 million investment program, Telus has installed
