VANCOUVER and MONTREAL – Canada’s two biggest telcos put out separate press releases today touting their impending wireless network upgrades to HSPA and eventually LTE, but buried within them both, Telus and Bell say they’ll be working together on the upgrade, expected to cost in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

MONTREAL – TELUS and the Quebec government have partnered on a $1.6 million training program and on the creation of 149 new jobs in the telco’s Quebec technical support team.
Nearly $405,000 of the training money will come from the provincial government’s Emploi-Québec, it was announced Thursday.

MONTREAL – TELUS on Wednesday announced it was investing $33 million in an eco-friendly IT data centre in Laval. The facility will be an Uptime Institute Tier III certified Internet data centre that will be designed according to the Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) standard.
The centre will house extremely powerful computer services with redundant power, cooling and security systems.
