VANCOUVER – Telus is expecting 2012 to be a rosy one. The telco said Friday that subscribers increases for its smart phone, TV and high speed Internet services will help to drive up its profits and revenues next year.
Telus is predicting that its revenues will come in between $10.7 billion and $11 billion, up 4 – 6.5% than in 2011, and that earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) is expected to be higher by up to 6%.

WINNIPEG – Telus has turned on more new HSPA+ dual-cell wireless sites in Manitoba, extending its wireless network reach to 66% of the province.
The new wireless coverage is live now in Selkirk, Victoria Beach, Lockport, Ste. Anne, Steinbach and along Highway 1 to Portage la Prairie. Full coverage is scheduled to be available in Portage la Prairie in early 2012, with service to Brandon expected next summer.

TORONTO – Rogers Media announced Monday that Telus will now offer FX Canada to its Optik TV subscribers in Alberta and British Columbia.
Beginning yesterday, Rogers-owned FX Canada is available to Telus Optik TV subscribers in Alberta and British Columbia in standard definition on channel 188 and coming soon on demand and in high definition on channel 690 in early 2012.

OTTAWA – Grassroots youth-focused charities in the Ottawa region received a $400,000 financial boost from the Telus Ottawa Community Board this year.

VANCOUVER – Third quarter profits at Telus rose by 30%, which the company said Friday was generated by increases in its wireless, wireline and data revenues.
Net income for the quarter ended September 30 was $326 million, a sizeable jump from $251 million in the same period last year. Adjusting for three non-recurring items in the third quarter of 2010, normalized net income was higher by 12%.

GATINEAU – Some consensus around a Rogers Communications proposal for IP to IP connection emerged during the first day of rebuttals Monday at the CRTC’s interconnection hearing.
