Shaw family invests $7.5 million more in Corus

CALGARY – Corus Entertainment announced today it’s been advised that the Shaw family, and entities owned or controlled by them, completed the purchase of an additional 250,000 Class B non-voting shares of the company during the week of April 29, 2005. At the close of trading on April 29, Corus shares traded at $30.19 on the Toronto Stock Exchange, placing the value of the investment at around $7.5 million. Shaw hopeful regs will ease

CALGARY – Prodded by analysts to peer into their regulatory crystal ball, Shaw Communications’ chief executives Jim Shaw and Peter Bissonnette said they envision an easier regulatory environment in the not-too-distant future. Corus looks to cut $500M in debt in recapitalization

By Connie Thiessen Corus has announced a major plan to reorganize its finances that could save the media company up to $40 million in annual cash interest payments. If the plan is approved by the courts and shareholders, Corus says it will cut its third-party debt and other liabilities by over $500 million. Northwestel brings 700 Mbps internet service to Tuktoyaktuk

Northwestel announced Tuesday it is now offering up to 700 Mbps download and upload speeds to home internet users in Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, and businesses in the community can now access speeds of up to 750 Mbps. With the upgrade, the community also now has access to Northwestel TV Plus, the northern telecom provider’s live and on-demand TV service. Cogeco Mobile expands to more than 350 new municipalities

Cogeco Communications announced Wednesday a significant expansion of its mobile service, which uses the mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) access framework to operate.
