675 more Oxford County homes, businesses now have access to high-speed Internet

Another 260 homes, businesses to have access by fall 2022 OXFORD COUNTY – The Government of Ontario and Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology (SWIFT) today announced 675 homes and businesses in Oxford County now have access to high-speed Internet and another 260 will have access by fall 2022. The governments of Canada and Ontario have each invested over $950,000 through SWIFT to make this happen, according to a press release issued today by the province. CEEVA results in 58% drop in average set-top box energy consumption

By Connie Thiessen OTTAWA – New data shows the Canadian Energy Efficiency Voluntary Agreement (CEEVA) for Set-Top Boxes has resulted in a 58% drop in average energy consumption since the program’s launch in 2017. Five of the largest Canadian Pay TV service providers (Bell Canada, Cogeco, Rogers Communications, Shaw Communications, and Videotron) are signed on to the program in addition to manufacturers (CommScope, EchoStar Technologies, and Technicolor, soon to become VANTIVA), the Consumer Technology Association and CableLabs. Hamilton fire causes Rogers outage over the weekend

HAMILTON – A local fire in Hamilton last Friday night impacted Rogers’ customers, some of whom were without service into Sunday evening. “We are aware of a service interruption impacting some areas of Hamilton due to a fibre cut caused by a local fire,” a tweet from the @RogersHelps Twitter account on Saturday says. The tweet also indicates wireless services were not impacted. Telus says CRTC should investigate Rogers refusal to broadcast OneSoccer channel

OTTAWA – Telus has told the CRTC this week that Timeless Inc.’s complaint that Rogers’s refusal to carry its OneSoccer channel gives it an undue preference should be investigated by the regulator as “timely,” as Rogers pushes to buy Shaw Communications. Rogers has refused to carry the channel because it said it has limited appeal with its viewers.
