TVA Sports secures four-year extension of WTA tennis rights agreement

MONTREAL — TVA Group’s TVA Sports channel announced today the extension of its broadcast rights agreement with the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), making it the exclusive French-language broadcaster in Canada of the WTA’s international tournaments until the end of 2026. “The network will broadcast all the WTA 500 and 1000 tournaments as well as the (WTA) 250 competitions featuring the country’s female players,” who include Quebecer Leylah Fernandez and Bianca Andreescu, notes an announcement on TVA Sports’ website (translated into English). OTTAWA – The owner of OneSoccer, Timeless Inc., has filed a part one application with the CRTC alleging Rogers Cable is in breach of the Broadcasting Distribution Regulations by refusing to carry the dedicated Canadian soccer channel on its cable systems. Ontario government helping bring high-speed Internet to 266,000 homes, businesses

Quebecor revenues down by $16M for Q2 2022

CEO says they are “more determined and motivated than ever” to expand across Canada MONTREAL – Quebecor Inc. today announced its second quarter 2022 financial results, which states revenue for the quarter was $1.1 billion – a decreased of $16 million compared to Q2 2021. Telus was Canada’s fastest mobile network in Q1-Q2 2022, says Ookla

SEATTLE – Telus was Canada’s fastest mobile network during the first two quarters of 2022, according to the Seattle-based broadband and mobile network testing company Ookla. Ookla gave Telus a speed score of 91.3 – which is faster than Bell (87.78), Rogers (69.94), Fido (67.57) and Videotron (55.71). The results are based on “703,540 user-initiated tests taken on the Speedtest iOS and Android mobile apps from all the major mobile carriers in Canada during the award period,” Ookla’s report explains.
