TV5 Québec Canada announced Tuesday the appointment of Louis Therrien-Galasso as its senior director of marketing and communications.
Therrien-Galasso brings more than 15 years of experience in the media industry, having held key roles in marketing, partnerships and management for several broadcasters, including ARTV, CBC/Radio-Canada, Groupe TVA and Bell Media. After most recently serving as director of programming, marketing and sales at the Centre culturel de l’Université de Sherbrooke, he is now returning to the media sector by joining TV5 Québec Canada.

A study commissioned by the CRTC, made public Thursday, presses the need for the regulator to allow broadcasters to allocate a portion of their Canadian content expenditures on audience development, such as marketing and promotion.

André Provencher, a member of the National Film Board of Canada’s board of trustees and a former media executive at TVA Group and Quebecor Media, died of pancreatic cancer last Thursday at the age of 76.

Apple is asking the Federal Court of Appeal to review whether the CRTC is inappropriately demanding the disclosure of what it calls competitively sensitive financial information as part of the implementation of the Online Streaming Act.

The Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) is asking the Federal Court of Appeal to review the 20 per cent minimum copyright ownership threshold set by the CRTC that the creative group argues fails to give Canadians effective control to exploit their works as required by the law.
