CIRA and SIDN partner to build new internet registry platform

HAMBURG, Germany – CIRA (Canadian Internet Registry Authority) and Dutch counterpart SIDN — registries of Canada’s .CA domain and Netherlands’ .NL domain, respectively — announced Tuesday a new partnership to jointly develop and build a new internet registry platform. Quebec, Canada investing over $10M in quantum communication test bed

MONTREAL – The governments of Quebec and Canada announced Monday they are investing more than $10 million combined to help non-profit organization Numana set up a multi-hub quantum communication test bed that will initially be available to use in the DistriQ Quantum Innovation Zone in Sherbrooke, Quebec, starting this month. CRTC sets $10M registration threshold and deadline for new online regulatory system

By Ahmad Hathout OTTAWA – The CRTC has set Friday who will be subject to regulation under the new Broadcasting Act regulations as part of its implementation of the new Online Streaming Act, setting the threshold at $10 million and higher in annual broadcasting revenues in Canada. Bell, Verizon and Vodafone conduct first 5G transatlantic holographic collaborative meeting

MONTREAL – Bell Canada, Verizon, Vodafone and virtual reality app maker Matsuko recently conducted the first live transatlantic collaborative meeting connecting holograms of people in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. using 5G and multi-access edge computing (MEC) technology, Bell announced Monday. The three telecoms came together under the auspices of the 5G Future Forum (5GFF) industry body for this first-of-its-kind demonstration, which saw holograms of employees located in three different countries connected from Toronto using Bell’s 5G network, from New York using Verizon’s 5G network and from London using Vodafone’s 5G network.
