Indigenous music contributed $78 million to Canadian economy in 2018, says new report

WINNIPEG — A first-of-its-kind study published by APTN reveals the Indigenous music industry contributed a total of almost $78 million to Canada’s economy in 2018. In addition to its economic impact, Indigenous music also supports more than 3,000 full-time positions across the country, according to the National Indigenous Music Impact Study (NIMIS), conducted by APTN and its study partners, including NVision Insight Group Inc. WHITEHORSE – Former Northwestel president and CEO Paul Flaherty died last week at his home in Whitehorse after an illness. He was 63. Signs new deal with Metro MONTREAL – Music platform and radio broadcaster Stingray Group say overall second quarter revenues rise by 120.7% to $76.6 million, due largely to last year’s acquisition of Newcap Broadcasting’s chain of radio stations. UBC’s 5G-powered smart campus goes live

VANCOUVER — Rogers Communications and the University of British Columbia (UBC) announced Tuesday they have launched the country’s first 5G-powered smart campus, which will be used by university researchers to test 5G applications in a real-world setting.
