REGINA – SaskTel is gearing up for a busy holiday season, estimating that customers will send and receive more than 27 million text messages and place more than 2.55 million calls from Christmas Eve through Boxing Day. They will also use over 390 Terabytes (TB) of wireless data.
The provincial Crown Corp added that landline calling remains a popular way for Saskatchewan residents to stay in touch, and on Christmas Day alone it expects to see customers on its landline voice network receive close to 177,000 calls, while some 212,000 calls will be made from within the province.
“Being able to get in touch with friends and family is an essential part of the holidays,” said SaskTel acting president and CEO Doug Burnett, in the news release. “We take great pride in knowing that no matter how our customers choose to make those connections, our advanced networks are there to make it happen.”
