Ross Video unveils portable video production system

OTTAWA — Video production technology maker Ross Video announced Tuesday availability of Graphite PPC, a new portable, lightweight and feature-rich production centre. The company made the announcement as part of its Ross Live 2020 product release program.

Graphite PPC offers production horsepower for up to two MEs (mix effects), four MiniMEs, four DVEs (digital video effects), six frame syncs, four media stores and two multi-viewers, says the news release. Capable of handling up to 13 inputs and up to eight outputs, Graphite PPC also includes the same Rave audio engine (with sample rate converters), XPression graphics and clips package that come with the larger Graphite solution.

Graphite PPC weighs 42 lbs (19 kg), which includes its dedicated soft-shell carrying case equipped with a pull-out handle and wheels. Its quiet fan cooling means the system can be used in the same space as talent using microphones. Graphite PPC is simple to set-up and requires just a single operator, allowing high-impact, high-efficiency production to be delivered even more easily, says the release.

“It’s always satisfying when we can take real world customer feedback and quickly translate that into a new solution,” said Nigel Spratling, vice-president of switchers and servers at Ross. “We had many customers praising the impressive features of Graphite but asking for something lighter and portable. Graphite PPC is the real ‘grab and go’ production solution the market has been looking for, and the starting price of US$20K makes Ross performance, quality and reliability even more accessible than ever before.”
