Public Mobile arrives in Montreal; secures financing deal with Chinese partner

MONTREAL – Public Mobile launched its new wireless service in Montreal Friday, according to a post on its company blog.The wireless upstart rolled out service in Toronto in May, after pre-selling its handsets and packages in both cities since March. In other company news, a Canadian Press report says the company has struck a $350 million financing deal with the Export-Import Bank of China that will help it to build a wireless network from Windsor to Quebec City. Public is also working with ZTE, a major Chinese wireless telecom equipment maker, to build its Canadian business.www.publicmobile.ca
