Olympic consortium adds two more

TORONTO – Dan Cimoroni has been named vice-president, business development and Nelson Millman as executive producer, radio, of the CTV-Rogers Media consortium which will cover the Vancouver 2010 and London 2012 Olympic Games.

Millman will also continue to serve in his current role as vice-president, general manager and program director of Rogers Media’s The Fan 590/Fan Sports Radio Network.

“Dan and Nelson bring a combined 55 years of experience to our Olympic team. Both boast impressive credentials as leaders in their respective fields and have developed strong relationships within the sports and business industries,” said Pelley in a release “I have known both Dan and Nelson for years, and their drive and expertise will contribute to the success of our coverage of these Games.”

Reporting to Pelley and effective immediately, Cimoroni is responsible for creating new business opportunities for non-traditional media vehicles for both the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games and London 2012 Olympic Summer Games. His efforts will focus on public venues with Olympic coverage on big-screen TVs, closed circuit television networks, such as airlines and shopping malls, theatres and DVDs. Cimoroni will also develop incremental sales and promotional opportunities with new and existing clients.

With 20 years’ experience in the management, sponsorship, marketing and sales arenas, Cimoroni’s extensive sports and entertainment background includes principal roles with key industry leaders. Most recently, he was vice-president, sports and management at Insight Sports Ltd., where he worked on a wide range of projects including an Olympic strategy that focused on athlete profiles/vignettes and the procurement of properties for Olympic venues.

In Cimoroni’s eight years as vice-president at IMG Golf, he helped shape the company’s position as a market leader through a number of new golf properties while simultaneously contributing to the company’s global golf efforts and representing Canada’s top golf professionals, including Mike Weir and Stephen Ames.

Millman is responsible for the strategic development and implementation of pre-Olympic and Olympic cross-platform audio content for terrestrial radio, web and mobile for both the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games and London 2012 Olympic Summer Games. He will also develop client-specific programming for official sponsors and build a national network of terrestrial radio stations that will deliver Olympic programming from coast to coast. He will report to Rick Chisholm, executive vice-president of broadcasting, for his Olympic duties.

Millman has worked in radio for 35 years and helped launch The Fan in 1992. He has worked at all-sports station for the past 14 years and has been responsible for leading the station’s programming strategy, including extensive coverage of the Olympic Games.
