VANCOUVER — Lite Access Technologies Inc., a Vancouver-based company that uses advanced installation methods including the use of micro/narrow trenching technologies to deploy fibre networks, announced last Friday it is no longer providing its fibre installation services for the City of Brooks, Alberta’s municipally owned broadband network.
As recently as May, Lite Access said it had started construction on Brooks’ fibre network. Lite Access was awarded the contract in February 2022.
“As a result of ongoing reviews of all current projects by new management, it has been determined that due to today’s environment and market volatility it is in the best interests of Lite Access shareholders to end the contract with Brooks and CNPI (Community Network Partners Inc.),” a press release explains.
“Although progress was made on the build out of the fibre optic network, all parties involved believed a change was needed for the continued build out of the project,” Mike Plotnikoff, CEO of Lite Access, said in the release. “We at Lite Access would like to thank Brooks and CNPI for their efforts in coming to an amicable resolution for all parties.”
Lite Access says it will continue to focus on fibre installation projects within North America. With its recently announced cooperation agreement with Ironman Direction Drilling Ltd., the company “has increased operational strength and efficiencies for additional project flow,” the release says.
