PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Tech supplier Lindsay Broadband today announced it has hired James Foster (pictured) as systems support specialist for GPON/XGS-PON solutions.
GPON stands for gigabit passive optical network, while XGS-PON is a 10-gigabit-capable symmetric PON technology. (Earlier this month, Lindsay announced it is partnering with Slovenia-based Iskratel to provide GPON and XGS-PON solutions to North American customers.)
With 16 years of systems development and support experience, Foster previously held positions at: Coach Canada/Trentway Wager as network analyst; Rolls-Royce Civil Nuclear Canada as IT administrator/technical support specialist; MicroAge Technology Solutions as bench technician/system builder; and PC Paramedics as bench technician/system builder. Foster studied electronics engineering/information networks at Sir Sanford Fleming College in Peterborough, Ont.
“James will be responsible for the development, design and testing of Lindsay’s next generation of XGPON and IP infrastructure solutions for the cable and telecommunications industries,” said Ken Weaver, director of optical engineering at Lindsay Broadband, in the company’s press release. “We welcome him as a key member of our ever-growing team as we continue to expand our offerings of next generation technologies and network solutions.”
